Sea coasts, ports and river banks were always prone to different erosion mechanisms which inhibit the sound operation and land use in these areas. Throughout history many kinds of revetments and costal structures have been designed and built to resist water erosion and wave impacts. Geosynthetic solutions are newly introduced technology for this applications. Geotextile bags, tubes and containers are used extensively in Australia, Europe, South East Asia and Middle East successfully to stop such erosion. In river banks with little or no wave action different geosynthetic mats and mattresses are used; in coastal projects with high waves a combination of robust geotextile filters with appropriate amour protection have survived with proved to be very effective. Windavar with help of its international partners with over 50 years of experience can provide support in the design phase as well as direct involvement in supply and construction.
